Have you ever seen a Sri lankan bowler glaring or glowering at a batsman or sledging?
I have never seen. I see bowlers like Vaas and Malinga smiling at the batsman when they are hit for a four or six. Malinga the smiling assassin says that he doesn't get angry after being hit for four because getting angry doesn't give him any benefit.
But don't you think that sledging or glaring at the batsman will intimidate and break the concentration of him which will lead him in to giving his wicket away? So the way I see it is that Sri lankan bowlers would have had more success if they did it.
Like if you remember Shaun Tait sledged at Dilshan which made Dilshan out of control to give his wicket away in this year's world cup. So that will give the bowlers an extra advantage which can change the game! Do you agree?
albert:- No i mean glaring or glowering or sledging to pick up a wicket. The 99 Sewag scene was ugly and that is intentional but it is an incident in a different category from what I have asked.
I saw Sangakkara sledging(?) Pollock one time.
Other than that our player don't do that unless if they answer for other sledgers.Ex-Mahela and Dilshan always talk back.
But i really want our players to be aggressive,specially bowlers.Prasad,Suranga and Welagedara has some of it but still i want to see them verbally defeat opponents in special situations against players like Kholi who gets angry quickly.
Agree with you they would gain more success if they do it, specially if players like Malinga does it with those cracking yokers..OMG..he'll be success for sure!
