I disagree with the notion that he didn't get much coaching, or had a lack of
direction in coaching. It just wasn't publicized, but I guarantee you he
wasn't just sitting there through the last two seasons collecting dust bunnies
while Orton got all the coaching. It was obvious to those coaching him and
those that saw him throw the football EVERY DAY that he was nowhere near
ready. Granted, he had two different coaching staffs to work with as one was
eliminated a year into his career.
There was a lot he could have done during the offseason too despite the
lockout to get better. Instead he worked out with a linebacker's workout, did
little to enhance his passing game, (it showed) and spent too much time
hamming it up in front of cameras with this appearances, book tours, celbrity
golf tournaments, etc. It showed during camp too. It wasn't even close and it
was like a day or two later we heard Orton was getting most of the 1st team
reps. He may not have had access to Bronco facilities, but don't tell me there
