More Great Information on Heddon Zara:

What size topwater would be good for bass?

Ive been looking for a heddon Zara Spook for a long time but everywhere I see one it's a 3/4 ounce is that too big for large mouth bass and Striped Bass? It's 4-1/2" have I been doing the wrong thing not buying them what's appropriate sizes for bass topwaters and crankbaits so far I have 2 poppers and one crankbait thanks and what's a good color for topwaters I figured since the fish only see the bottom of the lure I thought the bottom should be clear, right? Thanks

Tight lines

Haha! Too big? Pfffft! There ain't no such words in the names of lures. It's not in a bass' vocabulary.

Someone doesn't know the Spook line very well. Spook Puppy weighs 1/4 ounce, the Super Spook weighs 7/8 ounce, Jr. weighs 1/2 ounce, the Rattlin', One Knocker, and Zara Spooks weigh 3/4 ounce. The Super Spook XT weighs in at 1 ounce. Now, I don't see any 3/8 ounce Spooks anywhere.

I have a Super Magnum Wooden Zara Spook that's 8 Inches Long and weighs 3 5/8 ounces. It's nowhere near "too big".

EDIT:
If you really think about it... a bass is looking up at a Spook or other surface bait. Guess what all they see? Yep! The bottom of the bait! So, if you think again, the color of the bait doesn't really matter because all they see is the bottom of it anyway. At night, especially during a full moon, the color "clear" is actually best. Bass can't see the actual lure, but they can still see the movement of it on the waves. Black is another good color for a topwater bait at night. Noisy, too. But during the day, seriously... color doesn't matter at all to the fish. Sure, a colorful bait is easier for US to see, but as far as to the bass...
