My parents have been supportive to me all my life. They don't like splashing out on things and work very hard (usually 6-7 days a week).
I would love to get them something to say thankyou, however I don't know what to get them. My dad loves fishing (surf casting in particular), and my mum likes gardening and egyptian related things.
Maybe I could send them on holiday somewhere?
I am a student so don't have a big budget, how could I do something that would be very meaningful for them?
One thing my siblings and I all did while we were in college for our parents was create a video using pictures from when they were dating until present time. We scanned in pictures that meant something to them and then we downloaded songs that either they liked or we thought the words fit the pictures. We used Windows movie maker which comes with all XP or Vista computers. You can then burn them and watch them on tv. My mom cried so hard. It took time to gather the pictures and create the movie, but it was free and they loved it! It was probably the best and most meaningful gift we've ever given them. I'm making another one for my best friend. SHe's getting married and moving away.
Another thought, if you don't have that much time, you can go to Snapfish, Shutterfly, Kodak and probably others to make photo books. I did this for myself and also for my mom for Mother's Day. They are very simple but very nice. They are normally around $30, but with Mother's Day coming up they may have discounts. It's a nice keepsake as well.
