More Great Information on Daiwa Tierra:
Anybody have any experience with these two Spinning Reels?
I have the want for another spinning reel. (You can never have too many Fishing Reels!) I will have the opportunity to buy a Daiwa Tierra (New and Shipped) for 70 dollars or an Abu Garcia Orra Sx (New and Shipped) for 80. They both are super smooth, both have sealed drags, both have aluminum bodies. The biggest difference is probably that the Daiwa's drag incorporates felt washers whereas the Abu Garcia uses carbon washers.
Also the drag range is way higher on the Abu Garcia.
Any ideas on how the Daiwa compares? Its MSRP is 125 whereas the Abu Garcia is 100.
Well, I skipped out on this question earlier, because I've never used that Daiwa reel, but I see nobody has gave any info yet. I have used the Orra, and it's a pretty solid reel; I don't see why you would be disappointed with it. I say give it a shot.
I wouldn't let the drag be the deciding factor, though. Never will you use the drag to the most extreme point in fishing. That just isn't a logical thing to do.
Just my 2 cents.
